Arsenal join Tottenham in race for forward with 20 goals this season

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to press ahead with a move for a Serie A forward this summer, but the Lilywhites have just learned that they will have competition to contend with from their fierce North London rivals for the player’s signature.

Over recent months, some doubts have been raised about Heung-min Son’s future at Tottenham while it appears that Spurs are not guaranteed to complete a permanent move for Mathys Tel.

It thus makes sense for Ange Postecoglou’s men to scour the market for potential additions to their forward line and one prolific Serie A star has allegedly caught their attention.

It was first reported back in February that Spurs are plotting a move for Ademola Lookman following his public fallout with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Since then, some sources have even claimed that Tottenham have already taken their first steps towards signing Lookman this summer, but the Lilywhites have just been handed some bad news.

Arsenal enter race with Tottenham for Ademola Lookman

It has now been revealed by Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg that Arsenal have added Lookman to their shopping list for the summer.

Plettenberg claims that the Gunners are part of a long queue of teams looking to secure the services of the 27-year-old when the transfer market reopens in June.

The journalist explains that the player has decided to leave Atalanta in search of a new challenge this summer and adds that a return to the Premier League very much remains on the cards for the former Everton man.

How much do Atlanta want for Lookman?

If reports from Italy over recent months are to be believed, it looks like the Bergamo club have made peace with the fact that the versatile forward is on his way out of the club.

It was reported by JuveLive earlier his year that Atalanta are willing to cash in on Lookman for a fee of €45m (£37.4m).

The same update explained that while Juventus are keen on winning the race for the player, Atalanta would prefer to sell the player to a club outside the Serie A.
