Tottenham fans will love the message Mathys Tel just sent to Harry Kane
Mathys Tel has sent a touching message to Harry Kane on social media after the Tottenham legend picked up the first major trophy of his career on Sunday.
Bayern Munich needed a win at RB Leipzig on Saturday to secure the Bundesliga title, but the home side scored a stoppage-time equaliser, thus forcing the Bavarians to halt their celebrations.
Kane was about to run onto the pitch to celebrate the first silverware of his career but was left heartbroken when Leipzig spoiled the party.
However, Vincent Kompany’s men did not have to wait long to get their hands on the title as Bayer Leverkusen were held to a draw away at Freiburg just 24 hours later, which was enough to see the title go back to its rightful home, the Allianz Arena.
Mathys Tel congratulates Tottenham legend Harry Kane on title win
As one would expect, Spurs fans were over the moon to see Kane win his first medal, with many feeling that it was richly deserved, given his consistent output over the last decade.
Tel conveyed a similar sentiment on his Instagram stories to his Bayern teammate, admitting that he was delighted for the England captain.
The Frenchman shared Bayern’s own post of a tuxedo-clad Kane next to the Bundesliga trophy and said: “So happy for you bro – deserved!”
Tel will be hoping to hold up a trophy this month
Tel will be delighted to pick up the league medal, which is the second of his short career so far, although he did not contribute too much this term for the Bundesliga giants.
The Frenchman may yet play an important role in Tottenham’s pursuit of the Europa League trophy, particularly given that Heung-min Son is an injury doubt for the second leg against Bodo/Glimt.
Ange Postecoglou has praised Tel for stepping up over the last few weeks, and the Australian may be tempted to give the 20-year-old the nod to start in Norway.
