Tottenham face fresh blow in Andoni Iraola chase as Bournemouth play their hand
Andoni Iraola’s future has taken another twist, as Bournemouth grow increasingly confident of keeping the Spaniard, despite Tottenham Hotspur’s firm interest in appointing him as manager.
Tottenham Hotspur have endured a dismal Premier League campaign, with the Lilywhites currently sitting in 16th place on the Premier League table.
Spurs have fared better in the Europa League and could even reach the final should they avoid defeat against Bodo/Glimt in Norway.
Regardless of their European ambitions, Tottenham are said to still be on the lookout for a new manager, and it has been reported that Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola has emerged as Tottenham’s top target to replace Ange Postecoglou.
However, over the last couple of weeks, it has also been reported that Iraola is leaning towards remaining at Bournemouth for one more season, as the Cherries have offered Iraola a new deal.
Tottenham suffer setback in Andoni Iraola pursuit
Now, fresh reports from Football Insider state that Bournemouth are confident Andoni Iraola will sign a new contract despite interest from Spurs.
According to the publication, the Cherries have been doing everything possible to tie Iraola down to a new long-term deal at the Vitality Stadium.
The Spaniard is said to be seen as a crucial part of Bournemouth’s plans for the future and is believed to be happy at the club despite the interest from elsewhere.
The Bournemouth boss has impressed this season as he has placed the Cherries firmly in contention for European qualification, with just one point separating them, Brighton and Fulham – it is no surprise that Tottenham are keen on signing him.
Spurs begin assessing other managerial options
However, with the talented manager looking to extend his stay at the South Coast, Football Insider have also revealed that Tottenham have turned their attention to alternative candidates, with the likes of Scott Parker, Marco Silva, and Oliver Glasner linked with the role.
Well, the twist does not end there, as it has also been revealed in recent weeks that Glasner is happy at Crystal Palace and is preparing to hold contract talks before the end of the season.
As a result, Tottenham are going to have to be patient in their pursuit of a new manager, as they continue to consider all options.
It has also been reported by Football Insider that there is a growing feeling that Postecoglou could stay at Tottenham beyond the end of the season if he wins the Europa League.
