'First meeting': Man Utd now hold talks to sign 33-goal striker, salary discussed - report
Manchester United have held talks with Victor Osimhen’s entourage regarding a summer transfer, according to journalist Santi Aouna.
The Red Devils are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, and they are expected to pursue a marquee striker, given the lack of firepower upfront.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have been the regular strikers this campaign, but the duo have netted just six Premier League goals.
Aouna now reports that a ‘first meeting’ took place between Osimhen’s entourage and United today.
The Napoli striker wants around £10.2 million per year, which equates to £196,000 per week.
Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres is the main priority, but a deal won’t be easy to pull off.
Osimhen would be an outstanding signing
The Nigerian star was touted to join Chelsea last summer, but he refused to accept a hefty pay cut.
The 26-year-old ended up joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli. He has been brilliant for the Turkish giants with 33 goals and eight assists from just 37 appearances.
The competition is much sterner in the Premier League, but we believe Osimhen would be a clear upgrade on Hojlund and Zirkzee for the Red Devils next term.
Osimhen is a traditional striker with a strong physical presence upfront. He has converted an impressive 20 percent of his shots into goals for Galatasaray this campaign.
The former Lille man is blessed with good positional sense in the box. This is something which United have lacked with Hojlund and Zirkzee over the course of the season.
At 26, he is in the peak phase of his career. Napoli want around £55 million to sanction his sale.
For that price, he would be an outstanding signing and would provide value for money.
