Tottenham fans react as second midfielder is ruled out for the season

0 3

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left reeling after fresh fears surrounding James Maddison’s fitness emerged, with the midfielder now at serious risk of missing the second leg against Bodo/Glimt and possibly the rest of the campaign.

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt another blow ahead of their second-leg tie against Bodo/Glimt, as James Maddison’s recent scan suggest he could be out for the rest of the season.

This comes after talkSPORT’s Alex Crook took to social media to share his understanding of the Tottenham midfielder’s situation.

Maddison was in action during Tottenham’s 3-1 win against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening, and scored the second goal of the game when he latched onto Pedro Porro’s lofted pass to guide the ball into the far post.

The Englishman was forced off in the second half of the Europa League semi-final at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Dejan Kulusevski replacing him.

Ange Postecoglou has since addressed the midfielder’s situation. He admitted that Maddison’s knee injury did not look good and that the club was awaiting the results of a scan.

James Maddison injury blow sparks reaction from Tottenham fans

Crook posted on X about what he has heard regarding James Maddison’s injury, and it is heartbreaking news, with the playmaker now set to sit out the second leg against Bodo/Glimt and a potential Europa League final, should Tottenham get past Kjetil Knutsen’s side in the return leg.

Spurs fans, well aware of the recent news, have now taken to social media to express their frustrations. Many believe that things simply are not going their way this season.

One fan said: “I genuinely fear this could be our make or break in the Final. Why can’t we just have an injury free team for a couple of games.”

Another said: “We legit can’t ever have anything going well.” A third added: “What did we do to deserve this, our whole life being a football fan is cursed.”

Another fan posted: “Yeah the final is done, do not see how we compete vs United without two of our best midfielders… worst time possible to get two bad injuries.”

On Maddison’s impact, one fan wrote: “The lack of creativity in our midfield without him is damaging. Presumably Kulu will play in there but he has struggled since injury. Looking like Bissouma/Sarr, Bentancur and Kulu. Need Son back on the bench.”

Another summarised the mood around the club: “No more injury crisis we thought. Worst timing possible and the one player we cannot do without.”

Spurs face midfield crisis as Dejan Kulusevski set for key role

As many of the fans have alluded to, Maddison is currently not the only player Spurs are set to be without come this Thursday.

As it stands, Lucas Bergvall, one of Tottenham’s better midfielders, is currently out and is expected to miss the remainder of the season.

Heung-min Son, the club captain, is also a doubt as he continues to recover from a foot problem.

Tottenham are now going to have to turn to other players, with Dejan Kulusevski the most likely to come into that number 10 role.
