Today we Back Brighton to Win at Home to Newcastle, And Hope Liverpool Can Get a Win at Chelsea

It’s not often we find ourselves cheering on the likes of Brighton and Liverpool, but today, every Aston Villa fan should be doing just that. Currently, we’re sitting in 7th place on 60 points, looking to qualify for the Champions League – today’s results elsewhere are just as important as our own forthcoming games.

Newcastle are away to Brighton. A tricky fixture for them, and one we need them to ideally lose. A defeat for Newcastle would stop them pulling away in the league. Brighton might not be in their best form, but they’ve still got the quality to upset anyone on their day. And even when they got a fantastic draw at Villa Park early this season, they might just be keen to remind Newcastle that they’re still a dangerous side.

While Liverpool have already been crowned Premier League champions, they remain a professional, high-quality side with every reason to finish the season strongly. A Liverpool win on the road against Chelsea today would help us out immensely — and that would be a welcome outcome for our hopes of Champions League qualification.

While we’ve still got our own job to do – grinding out wins – we also need a few favours along the way. So today, we put club rivalries aside. We back Brighton to win at home to Newcastle and hope Liverpool can get a win at Stamford Bridge. UTV
