Fredricson starts, 3 teenagers | Predicted Man Utd line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Brentford with 10 changes
Manchester United face Brentford in today’s early Premier League kick-off at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Red Devils registered a sublime 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao during the first leg of the Europa League semi-final on Thursday.
Despite the healthy lead, manager Ruben Amorim may prefer resting his key players for the return leg against Athletic.
Amorim played a strong XI against Bournemouth last week, but we could see heavy rotation against the Bees on the road.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana had a good outing against Athletic and made a strong save in the opening half.
Amorim may not contemplate resting him. He could be the only starter from the midweek win.
In the backline, there should be an overhaul. Harry Maguire, who provided a brilliant cross in the lead-up to Casemiro’s opening goal on Thursday, should feature on the bench.
The same can be said for Leny Yoro, Victor Lindelof and Patrick Dorgu. Amorim has already confirmed that Noussair Mazraoui won’t play any part against Thomas Frank’s side.
Matthijs de Ligt and Luke Shaw are poised to start. The duo need more minutes to get up to full match fitness. Tyler Fredricson, who had a superb debut against Wolves, should partner the duo in the back three.
Harry Amass is expected to start from the left wing-back role for the Red Devils. The 18-year-old could be accompanied by another teenager on the opposite end. Jaydan Kamason could be handed his maiden first-team appearance with Mazraoui absent and Diogo Dalot injured.
In midfield, there should be a complete overhaul. Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro could be given a breather. Kobbie Mainoo and Christian Eriksen are poised to replace the duo in the centre of the park.
Similarly, there is no need to risk Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho or Rasmus Hojlund with a big second leg coming up. Mason Mount and Amad Diallo should start in the number 10 roles.
Chido Obi looks set for his full United debut. The 17-year-old has impressed in multiple cameo appearances and has the opportunity to showcase his potential in a tricky fixture in west London.
