Tottenham manager target refuses to rule out a move this summer

0 2

A young English manager, who Tottenham are thought to admire, has been asked directly about his future, and he provided a very interesting response.

If reports are to be believed, Ange Postecoglou will lose his job even if Tottenham win the Europa League, and the Australian cannot have too many complaints, given how consistently poor the Lilywhites have been in the Premier League.

The big question is who Spurs will turn to as a replacement, with Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank being the most heavily linked with the Tottenham job.

However, last week, it was suggested that the Lilywhites may turn to one of their former players, who has impressed as a manager in the Championship.

It has been claimed by a few sources that Scott Parker has plenty of admirers at Spurs after guiding Burnley back to the Premier League.

The 44-year-old did not just spend two years as a player at White Hart Lane, but also began his coaching career at the Hotspur Way academy.

However, Parker has now refused to get dragged into the rumours over his future, insisting that he is fully focused on having a strong end to the season with Burnley.

When asked in an interview with Sky Sports if he sees himself at Burnley next season, the English manager said: “Full focus is on Burnley. I’ve been here for a year, I adore this team, adore these lads.

“Full focus is on this side, getting to the end of this season and hopefully getting another win and hopefully getting to 100 points. That’s where my focus is and that’s where it will be.”

Why Tottenham may not be too displeased with Scott Parker’s response

It is interesting that Parker was asked a direct question about where he will be next season and chose to answer it by talking about his focus on ending the campaign strongly.

The former Spurs midfielder had an opportunity to put an end to the speculation over his future and commit to the Clarets, which he has chosen not to do.

However, that does not necessarily mean he is considering a new challenge next season. It could just mean that he wants to keep the Burnley hierarchy on their toes to ensure that he is backed this summer ahead of the club’s return to the Premier League.
