Tottenham emerge as frontrunners to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface

0 2

Tottenham Hotspur is now being tipped as the most likely destination for Nigerian and Bayern Leverkusen’s forward Victor Boniface.

Tottenham Hotspur could do with some added firepower up front. Dominic Solanke, who was brought in for £65 million ahead of this campaign, has led the line but has not managed to break into double figures for Premier League goals this season.

Richarlison, expected to provide competition and cover for Solanke, has had a frustrating season plagued by injuries, with the Brazilian missing 37 games in total.

That, of course, left Tottenham short on attacking options during key periods of the campaign, particularly around the winter transfer window.

On winter deadline day, as injuries kept Solanke and Richarlison sidelined, Tottenham were offered the chance to sign Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface, following his collapsed move to Saudi Arabia.

Now, fresh reports suggest that the Lilywhites are leading the race among Premier League clubs to secure the forward’s signature.

Tottenham lead Premier League race for Victor Boniface

This report comes from GIVEMESPORT, who state that Spurs are currently viewed as the likeliest Premier League destination for Victor Boniface ahead of the summer window.

The striker, who was instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning campaign in 2023/24, may be available this summer, particularly if Xabi Alonso departs the German club, and Leverkusen are reportedly willing to listen to offers in the region of £43 million for the Nigerian forward.

Despite a dip in form this season, Boniface remains a sought-after player, and Tottenham are well aware of the situation. It is stated that the north London club are not ruling out a move, with a firm interest in taking advantage of Leverkusen’s openness to a sale.

Spurs face competition for Bayer Leverkusen striker Boniface

The report also highlights that Tottenham are not alone in their interest. West Ham United are said to be gathering information on the player’s availability and Leverkusen’s demands for the 24-year-old.

Other clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool, have all been linked, but the more concrete interest appears to be coming from Tottenham and West Ham, making them the frontrunners at this stage.

Of course, Tottenham are keen to strengthen their attacking depth and will need to move quickly if they want to see off competition and secure Boniface, particularly with interest in the forward heating up ahead of the summer.
