The Tottenham XI we want to see against West Ham with 9 changes
The Tottenham XI we want to see against West Ham United will raise eyebrows, as we are hoping for nine changes against the Hammers. Here is our preferred Spurs XI to take on West Ham this weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur fans can start to dream. A place in yet another European final is looking very real. The only thing standing in their way and a trip to San Mames is avoiding defeat, and Bodo/Glimt’s artificial turf.
The astroturf pitch is a playing surface that Spurs players struggled with the last time they played on one in the FA Cup against Tamworth.
Of course, keeping everyone fit and ready for the semi-finals and a potential final is just as crucial, and Sunday’s Premier League clash against West Ham United provides Ange Postecoglou with the perfect opportunity to give his squad players a run in the team.
We believe that the Tottenham boss can make as many as nine changes this Sunday, and here is the XI we expect to see.
Ange Postecoglou should ring the Tottenham changes vs West Ham
In goal, Antonin Kinsky. It has been a while since the Czech international featured for Tottenham since Guglielmo Vicario returned from injury. Playing him on Sunday and handing a rest to Vicario, who has struggled in the league in the last three gameweeks, is a punt worth taking.
Archie Gray: At right-back, we want to see Archie Gray. The versatile midfielder was more or less thrown under the bus last time, as Postecoglou put him in a severely weakened team against high-flying Liverpool. He has the quality, and with Pedro Porro hitting form now, it is best to keep the Spaniard fit ahead of Thursday.
Kevin Danso: At centre-back, Danso should come in for Cristian Romero. Again, Danso has not played as much since his return from injury, and he needs to get his match sharpness up. He definitely could still play a role in Spurs’ European run this campaign.
Ben Davies: Davies is most definitely a no-brainer. Micky van de Ven needs to be rested, and so Davies should be in for him.
Djed Spence: Spence has been solid at left-back this season, and it looks like starting games in the Premier League is the role Postecoglou has handed to him for the rest of the season.
Yves Bissouma: Spurs fans have been quick to hand out praise to Bissouma, who came into the Tottenham XI for an injured Lucas Bergvall against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday. The Malian performed really well, and with Bergvall still injured, he should start.
Pape Matar Sarr: Sarr is a fringe player who would be looking to break into the Tottenham Europa League side. However, with Rodrigo Bentancur, James Maddison and Bergvall in fine form, it is proving to be very difficult. But a solid performance against West Ham would be a great starting point.
Dejan Kulusevski: Deki has still not found his rhythm since he returned from injury. Undoubtedly, he has been one of the most consistent performers for Spurs this season, and Tottenham would need him at his sharpest. He should start against West Ham as he looks to gain some momentum.
Wilson Odobert: For all of the stick Brennan Johnson gets, the Welshman continues to bag goals. But there is a feeling that the other frontmen need to be in good form, in case Postecoglou looks to mix things up later.
Richarlison: since our coverage on Dominic Solanke’s stats in 2025, the Englishman has been racking in the goals. He grabbed another on Thursday, and we hope he is nowhere near the pitch on Sunday against West Ham, as he would be needed in Norway once more.
Mathys Tel: Tel was dropped against Bodo/Glimt for the first leg, and honestly, with our left-wing options being so thin, the winger could get minutes here and in the return leg against Glimt in Norway.
Our final XI: Kinsky; Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence; Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski; Odobert, Richarlison, Tel.
