Match Preview: Barnet (H)

0 0

AFC Fylde are preparing for their final game of the 2024/25 campaign as the Coasters host National League Champions Barnet at Mill Farm.

David Longwell’s side will be looking to end the season on a positive note after a tough few weeks on the Fylde Coast.

Fylde fell to a 2-0 defeat in the reverse fixture with the Bees as Nathan Delfouenso and Chris Neal took charge of the Coasters in North London.

Barnet were crowned Champions last time out and will be celebrating on the Fylde Coast no matter what the outcome on Bank Holiday Monday, having beaten York City to the title by beating Aldershot Town last time out.

Opposition Dugout: Dean Brennan

In the opposition dugout for the final time this season is Dean Brennan.

A manager well known for his passion, Brennan has done nothing short of an outstanding job at the Hive.

After joining from fellow National League side Wealdstone back in 2021, Brennan led his side to a second-placed finish last campaign before topping the table for large parts of this campaign.

He enjoyed a playing career which stretched over 10 years, coming through the ranks at Sheffield Wednesday before floating around a number of Non-League sides such as Hitchin Town, Grays Athletic and Lewes.

He moved into coaching in 2010, initially as caretaker Manager at Hemel Hempstead before taking over the reigns in 2012 in a spell which lasted six years.

Later spells followed at the likes of Billericay Town and Wealdstone before the move to the Hive followed.

One to Watch: Callum Stead

The 23-year-old forward will joined the Club in the summer after scoring 13 goals in the National League North for Brackley Town last season, bolstering Barnet FC’s attacking options as preparations for the upcoming season continues.

Stead won the Mangers, Players and Supporters’ Player of the Season award last season having helped Brackley Town reach the National League North play-off final. Prior to Brackley, Stead played for Kettering, Hitchin Town and South Shields.

This campaign, Stead is the top scorer for the Bees, having scored 18 so far this campaign.
