Richarlison sends brutal put-down to Liverpool player despite 5-1 defeat
Richarlison and Harvey Elliott clashed during Tottenham’s 5-1 defeat at Anfield on Sunday, with the Liverpool man mocking the Spurs striker with a gesture, and the Brazilian has now responded on social media.
While Sunday was a memorable day for Liverpool, it was an afternoon that Tottenham Hotspur will want to quickly forget and move on as they turn their sights towards the Europa League semifinal against Bodo/Glimt.
In stoppage time during that encounter, Elliott had a heated exchange with Richarlison, followed by a physical altercation, with the Reds star subsequently deciding to gesture a ‘three’ and a ‘zero’ with his hands.
It is thought that he was referring to the 30 years that it has been since Everton last won a trophy to mock the former Toffees striker.
Richarlison responds to Harvey Elliott’s gesture
Richarlison is not the kind of character to take taunts quietly and it would not surprise Spurs fans to learn that the 27-year-old has responded to Elliott.
After a fan posted a video of the exchange between the two players, Richarlison himself commented on the post in response to Elliott’s gesture, according to SPORTbible.
The Tottenham forward decided to poke fun at Elliott, writing: “He wants to reach 30 goals in his career, I think.”
Richarlison is peaking at the right time
It has been widely reported that Richarlison is on his way out of Tottenham this summer, but the forward can undoubtedly make a decisive contribution or two before he leaves.
The 27-year-old is looking sharp and dangerous, and he could potentially come up with a goal that could help Spurs lift the Europa League trophy.
If he does that, his legacy at Tottenham will be sealed and he will always be remembered very fondly by the Spurs faithful.
