Marti Cifuentes – Gardening Leave

QPR 1st Supporters Trust is saddened by first team coach Marti Cifuentes being placed on gardening
leave. It seems that Marti’s time at QPR will come to an end shortly. Over the last week it has become clear that the future of the manager was in doubt and his personal lap of honour on Saturday at the Burnley game suggested a farewell.

Marti has become a person of interest for other Championship clubs in the 18 months he has been at QPR. There was doubt about him staying at the end of last season and one year on that doubt is now a certainty.

Being placed on gardening leave suggests that an approach has been made by another club, at which point the QPR management will bar Marti from access to the club information.

Marti has done a good job in difficult circumstances, but if relationships have broken down then it is unlikely there is a future for him at Rangers.

Marti has had a strong relationship with the fans, so the Trust will avoid saying goodbye until things are clearer.

What is important is that the club will get over this quickly and move on with plans for the next season. We will get over this bump in the road…
