Ange Postecoglou remains defiant and insists Tottenham players are backing him
Ange Postecoglou remains defiant and insists he still has the backing of those around him despite Tottenham’s woeful Premier League form.
Ange Postecoglou has found life tough in his second season in charge at Tottenham. At the time of writing, Spurs sit a lowly 16th in the Premier League table, having suffered a staggering 18 defeats already this campaign.
Reports from several outlets have suggested that Postecoglou’s time in north London could be nearing its end, with the club said to be exploring potential replacements behind the scenes.
Indeed, despite their miserable domestic form, Tottenham still have a shot at glory in Europe. Spurs are in the semi-finals of the Europa League, and three more wins could finally end their 17-year trophy drought.
Ange Postecoglou insists Tottenham players and staff are behind him
However, despite the mounting media pressure and swirling reports, Ange Postecoglou remains adamant that he has the backing of those within the club.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Postecoglou said: “I’ve said many times that you talk to any manager and it can be very isolating in tough times if you feel like you’re the only one, sort of, in the boat rowing in one direction.
“I’ve never felt that, even in the toughest times this year, I’ve just felt people are behind me and they believe in what we’re trying to do.”
“To be honest, we wouldn’t be in the position we are in terms of, in the final four of a major competition, unless they existed.”

Guglielmo Vicario praises Postecoglou’s influence at Spurs
Despite all of Tottenham’s struggles on the pitch, there still appears to be a strong sense of togetherness between Ange Postecoglou and his squad.
Guglielmo Vicario recently spoke about what it is like to play under Postecoglou. The goalkeeper praised the Australian not just for his tactical acumen but for his human touch and leadership.
Vicario said: “Before the managerial aspect that he wants, you know, to play, he’s a fantastic human being in the way he approaches people and in the way also, he teaches people how to behave and how to live life. So I will always remember for my entire life the way he speaks to the team.
“In the meetings, in the reviewing of the games, to preparing the game, it’s a big deal. It’s a big part of his personality. It’s a big part of his human being.”
Ange Postecoglou and this group will be hoping to finally end Tottenham’s long trophy drought. While reports suggest that even European glory might not be enough to save Ange Postecoglou from the sack, the Australian could still walk away with his head held high if he delivers silverware.
