Everything Eliot Wolf Said About Patriots Draftees Picked On Day 2
FOXBORO, Mass. — The Patriots entered the 2025 NFL Draft with a plan.
New England wanted to added athleticism and explosiveness on the field, executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf confirmed. The Patriots sought out prospects who also would serve as the next wave of culture-builders for Mike Vrabel’s team.
Speaking to reporters at Gillette Stadium on Friday night, after the Patriots selected Will Campbell and three players on Day 2, Wolf expressed enthusiasm. He believes the Patriots were able to play the board, adding adding a pair of picks, and find players who possess those traits and fill needs.
Here’s what Wolf said about each of New England’s Day 2 picks:
Round 2, No. 38: RB TreVeyon Henderson
Wolf reflected back on Henderson’s career before Ohio State, coming out of high school as the top running back in the country and a five-star recruit. Henderson started at Ohio State as a true freshman and averaged just shy of 100 yards from scrimmage in his 47 career games.
“Extremely productive player, extremely good speed, pass protection, pass game,” Wolf said. “Although he’s a little bit undersized, we view him as a three-down back and a really good complement. He’s a threat with the ball in his hands, speed to take at the distance anytime he touches it.”
Round 3, No. 69: WR Kyle Williams
Wolf noted how Williams started his career at UNLV before he transferred to Washington State and caught passes from No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward in 2023.
“He’s fast, can play outside and inside, really good with the ball in his hands,” Wolf said. “For an undersized guy, he’s really tough. He doesn’t shy away from anything. He can block. Had the opportunity to visit with him on his 30 visit here, and he really has a great personality, and we’re excited about what he’s going to add from that perspective.”
When asked if Williams ability to beat man coverage played a role in the selection, Wolf responded: “Yeah, quite a bit. His ability to win off the line with his releases and accelerate, his ability to stem guys at the top of the route, there’s still some things that he could work on and clean up, which I’m sure Todd (Downing) and Josh (McDaniels) will work with him on, but that was something that stood out to us throughout the process.”
Round 3, No. 95: C Jared Wilson
Wolf lauded the Georgia product for his athleticism — Wilson ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.84) at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Wilson has been largely viewed as a center during the pre-draft process, but Wolf and company believe there could be some versatility to his game with a potential to play at guard. He said left guard, specifically, was a position Wilson could compete at.
“His athletic ability is really what stands out about him,” Wolf said. EW: “He’s still a young guy, so I think your point about playing one year is kind of maybe what we liked a little bit, is just the upside, the trajectory for him to have the success he had this year as a first-year starter. We think that the sky’s the limit for him, especially with his unique athletic ability, and he’s big. I mean, he’s 310 pounds.”
Wolf added: “I think center’s ultimately going to be his best position, but we’ll get him in here, see what he can handle mentally, and see what he can do.”
