Tottenham discuss move for Jurgen Klopp and two title-winning managers
Tottenham Hotspur have not ruled out a shock move for three of the biggest names in the managerial world this summer – including Jurgen Klopp – as Daniel Levy looks to make a statement while appointing a replacement for Ange Postecoglou.
Those who have followed Spurs Web’s coverage would be aware that Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank have been the most heavily linked with the Tottenham job over the last few months.
While all of those are managers who are proven in the Premier League, they are not necessarily names that will excite Spurs fans.
In a sensational development, it turns out that the Tottenham hierarchy are also considering three huge names for the role, two of whom have won the Champions League, and another who led his club to an unlikely league title win last season.
Tottenham discuss ambitious Jurgen Klopp move
This update comes from GiveMeSport, who reveal that the Spurs board have discussed the possibility of attempting to lure former Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp, Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso or Real Madrid chief Carlo Ancelotti to Hotspur Way.
The report says that the Spurs hierarchy do not want to restrict themselves to current Premier League managers and are willing to push the boat out to attract more high-profile names.
Klopp, Alonso and Ancelotti are thus all under consideration, with an approach for the trio being floated in the discussions underway at Spurs about Ange Postecoglou’s potential replacement.
The outlet claims that Tottenham want to be bold and show that they mean business, but it is acknowledged internally that it will be difficult to persuade Klopp, Alonso or Ancelotti to take charge.
Tottenham not ruling out re-hiring Mauricio Pochettino
Over the past couple of months, some sources have also floated the possibility that Spurs could look to re-hire Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently contracted to the US men’s national team until the 2026 World Cup.
This information has been backed up by GiveMeSport’s latest update, which says that Levy has refused to rule out bringing Pochettino back to the club.
The publication asserts that the Tottenham chairman is ‘fully aware of the conditions required’ to seal a reunion with the Argentine.
