What NFL Draft Expert Says About Patriots’ Second-Round Pick
Hearing the way NFL draft expert Daniel Jeremiah gushed over the Patriots’ second-round draft pick TreVeyon Henderson should have fans applauding New England’s selection.
“My favorite thing that I’ve seen in this draft is the pass protection tape for TreVeyon Henderson,” Jeremiah said on NFL Network’s draft broadcast, according to Patriots Wire’s Jordy McElroy. “There’s nothing like it. … He’s one of the best pass-protecting running backs I’ve ever evaluated.”
Along with Jeremiah’s praise, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III rated the Patriots’ pick at the highest level.
“TreVeyon Henderson scares defenses (every) time he touches the ball,” Griffin wrote on X. “This is something the New England Patriots desperately needed in their offensive attack. He is a physical pass protector as well. A++ pick for Drake Maye’s development and his offense scoring points.”
Henderson was a champion at Ohio State, led the team in rushing during his junior season, and racked up 3,761 yards and 42 touchdowns over four years with the Buckeyes.
The Patriots needed help offensively, and Henderson could battle Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson in the backfield.
Henderson is reliable with the football. He had zero fumbles in his last 26 college games across two seasons. He had just two fumbles, which he both recovered, during his first two college seasons. In 47 college games, Henderson lost zero fumbles. Stevenson, however, lost seven fumbles last season.
