Micah Richards makes extremely harsh statement about Tottenham’s Dominic Solanke

0 3

Micah Richards hasn’t held back in his assessment of Tottenham Hotspur’s season, with the former defender slamming Dominic Solanke and two other players, even describing one as a ‘headless chicken’.

Tottenham Hotspur have been wildly inconsistent this season and their Premier League position is a fair reflection of that. The campaign has been littered with poor results and performances that simply haven’t been up to scratch.

Just 11 wins from 33 games, coupled with 18 defeats, is the kind of form associated with clubs fighting relegation, not ones harbouring European hopes.

For a side with the quality Spurs possess, it’s been a bitterly underwhelming return. Good days have been few and far between, and understandably, the atmosphere among fans has soured.

Micah Richards slams Dominic Solanke, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel at Tottenham

While a lot of heat has rightly been directed towards the manager, Ange Postecoglou, who is now just two losses away from becoming the Spurs boss with the most league defeats in a single season, the players have also come under fire.

Micah Richards has now added his voice to the criticism, singling out three Tottenham players for particularly poor performances.

Like many Spurs fans, Richards hasn’t been impressed, and on The Rest is Football podcast, he didn’t mince his words about summer signings Dominic Solanke and Wilson Odobert, along with January arrival Mathys Tel.

“Solanke has been a disappointment all season. He has had knocks as well. Tel, he came from Bayern Munich, he looks really good for 20 minutes and then drifts out of the game,” Richards said.

“Odobert, they got from Burnley. I remember when Vincent Kompany signed him, he looked like he was going to be an absolute superstar.

“But, he looks like a bit of a headless chicken at the moment. Maybe it’s just down to confidence, but it’s not good enough.”

So far this season, despite being a good team player, Dominic Solanke has struggled to reach the heights of his last Bournemouth spell, where he notched 19 goals.

Instead, he has struggled for goals, and so far this year, Richarlison who has been in and out of the Spurs team due to injuries has outscored Solanke.

James Maddison says Spurs players are ‘hurting’ amid fierce criticism

As the criticism continues to fly, James Maddison has come out to admit that the players are struggling with the weight of it all. He said the squad is hurting and desperate to turn things around.

The midfielder acknowledged the fans’ anger and said it’s completely justified, even if it’s tough to take the stick that comes with it. But Maddison insisted that the players are trying everything to fix it.

He said: “It hurts a lot. It’s been one too many times this season. Our fans are rightly disappointed. We’re disappointed. We’re just trying hard to search for the answers… We’ve lost so many games this year by one-goal margins… I still walk over there. I think they deserve that, even though it’s not easy to go over and get pelted right in your face.”

Spurs now have to win the Europa League just to add some shine to an otherwise disastrous 2024/25 season. Even then, it wouldn’t be enough to mask what’s easily one of their worst campaigns in recent memory.
