THE QUEEN’S PARK team bus hits the road on league business for the final time this season on Saturday.
Ayr United host the Spiders at Somerset Park in the penultimate fixture of the 2024-25 William Hill Championship.
The Spiders have been preparing at Lochinch
This weekend however the Honest Men are certain to start, and end, the match in third place regardless of what happens elsewhere.
Queen’s Park on the other hand are eighth, two goals shy of Dunfermline in seventh and six points ahead of ninth-placed Airdrieonians – meaning any points earned in Ayrshire will guarantee finishing above the Diamonds.
Here’s what interim first-team head coach Steven MacLean, and defender Ben Jackson, had to say as they looked ahead to the game from the Lochinch Training Centre with QPTV.

The Season So Far...
Ayr United defeated Queen’s Park on the last meeting between the sides, back in March.
Queen’s Park had even led 2-0 with goals from Zak Rudden and Jack Turner, but a comeback from the Honest Men turned the tide, in the game, and on the season.
The Spiders are still not quite secure in their second tier status this season.
Steven MacLean’s side is six points ahead of Airdrie with two games to play, and boasts a healthier goal difference than the Diamonds.
Jack Turner was on target the last time the sides met
There’s also uncertainty at the bottom end of the Championship owing to Hamilton Academicals’ 15-point deduction from the SPFL’s Independent Disciplinary Tribunal.
That changed the table dramatically and sent Accies to 10th place – though an appeal over the punishment is to be heard on May 1, and could yet have an outcome on the final standings.
At the top end, Saturday’s opponents are certain to finish third, behind Falkirk and Livingston and clear from Partick Thistle in fourth.
Scott Brown’s side will either face the Jags or Raith Rovers in the first stage of the Premiership promotion play-offs.
Queen’s Park fans will be located in the West Enclosure and Main Stand.
