Re: Tom Wagner calls threat to Birmingham City Sports Quarter ‘a crime’ in 300m plea

Too late now but I often walk past the old Smithfield site by the markets and think it would have been ideal for a stadium.

Central Gov is in all kinds of financial difficulty. No chance they fund transport links for a football club. And I wouldn't want them to when there are so many other problems that need sorted out in the UK.

Wagner either needs to find the funds himself or get other investors on board. But why would he fund a local transport development that should be the responsibility of local Gov?

I think a sports quarter gets built but I'm not sure it will be on the Wheels site.

£200m is less than peanuts in central government budget terms.

The government isn't in all kinds of financial difficulties, it isn't in any kind. There is money available for investment.
