What’s Next? Patriots Draft Board Looks Clear After Will Campbell Pick

The New England Patriots took a… measured approach to the early portion of the 2025 NFL Draft.

It’s probably safe to use the word “chalk.”

New England officially selected LSU offensive lineman Will Campbell with the No. 4 pick, putting months of talk behind them by taking what they believed to be the best player at a position of need. I wouldn’t have done it, as it’s a major risk based off historical factors, but the club needed an offensive tackle and drafted someone they believe can fill that role early in his career.

What happens next, though?

I’ll tell you exactly what could happen, so follow along with this round-by-round breakdown of what the organization’s draft board could look like based off recent reports, team needs and the way things shook out on Thursday.

Round 2

New England should be in “best-player-available mode” on Friday, and these are likely to be their options at No. 38.

WR Jayden Higgins (Iowa State)
WR Jaylin Noel (Iowa State)
WR Luther Burden III (Missouri)
WR Kyle Williams (Washington State)
DL Darius Alexander (Toledo)
EDGE Mike Green (Marshall)
EDGE Donovan Ezeiruaku (Boston College)
EDGE Oluwafemi Oladejo (UCLA)

Round 3

The Patriots are expected to pursue a run-stuffing defensive tackle in the middle rounds of the draft, while also looking for a speedy complement in the running back room, per Chad Graff of The Athletic. I’d imagine they look in this direction over the next two rounds, with picks No. 69, N0. 77 and No. 106.

DT Deone Walker (Kentucky)
DT Alfred Collins (Texas)
DT Jay Toia (UCLA)
RB Dylan Sampson (Tennessee)
RB RJ Harvey (UCF)
RB Brashard Smith (SMU)
RB Trevor Etienne (Georgia)

Round 4

DT Yahya Black (Iowa)
DT Zeek Biggers (Georgia Tech)
DT Cam Horsley (Boston College)
DT Ty Hamilton (Ohio State)
RB Bhayshul Tuten (Virginia Tech)
RB Jaydon Blue (Texas)
RB Montrell Johnson Jr. (Florida)

Round 5

The Patriots don’t view tight end as a major need, it is “believed to be much more likely they make an addition in the later rounds,” per Graff. It’s tough to forecast who will be available this late, but there are a few names that come to mind.

TE Oronde Gadsden II (Syracuse)
TE Mitchell Evans (Notre Dame)
TE Jake Briningstool (Clemson)
TE Moliki Matavao (UCLA)
TE CJ Dippre (Alabama)
TE Thomas Fidone II (Nebraska)
TE Jackson Hawes (Georgia Tech)
TE Jalin Conyers (Texas Tech)
RB LeQuint Allen (Syracuse)

Fidone, Hawes and Conyers are all in-line options who could contribute immediately. Evans, Matavao and Dippre are more hybrid players, which might be more to the liking of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Round 6

It’s impossible to tell you who might be available at this point, but we’ll give it a shot.

OT Ajani Cornelius (Oregon)
OT Xavier Truss (Georgia)
IOL Clay Webb (Jacksonville State)
IOL Seth McLaughlin (Ohio State)
IOL Drew Kendall (Boston College)
EDGE Antwaun Powell-Ryland (Virginia Tech)
WR Nick Nash (San Jose State)
WR Isaac TeSlaa (Arkansas)
WR Xavier Restrepo (Miami)
TE Bryson Nesbit (North Carolina)

Round 7

OT Carson Vinson (Alabama A&M)
IOL Joe Huber (Wisconsin)
IOL Jake Majors (Texas)
EDGE Jared Ivey (Ole Miss)
WR Ricky White III (UNLV)
WR Jimmy Horn Jr. (Colorado)
WR Isiah Neyor (Nebraska)
