Journalist drops bombshell: 20yo Man Utd star could head for surprise exit alongside Rashford

Manchester United could reportedly sanction the departure of their key star this summer.

According to journalist David Ornstein, Alejandro Garnacho’s exit from Old Trafford is now “highly possible”, provided a suitable offer lands on the table and both the club and player are aligned.

Garnacho has become a mainstay for the Red Devils over the last 12 months.

He has played over 50 times for the club this season, bagging 10 goals and nine assists.

Chelsea, Napoli and Juventus have been strongly linked with signing the Argentina international over the last few months.

With United grappling with tight financial restrictions, Garnacho’s sale could offer crucial breathing room under the Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Since he is a homegrown player, any fee received would count as pure profit.

The Red Devils are already planning their attacking overhaul, with Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap identified as potential targets to inject fresh energy into the front line.

While Garnacho thrives as a traditional winger who loves isolating defenders one-on-one, head coach Ruben Amorim’s tactical blueprint leaves little room for wide players.

His 3-4-3 system leans heavily on inside forwards, and Garnacho has been deployed in a hybrid number 10 role.

However, he has struggled to consistently influence games.

The 20-year-old has managed just three goals and five assists in 33 appearances under Amorim.

There is no questioning Garnacho’s potential to become a world-class player, but his decision-making in the final third continues to be a major work in progress.

With Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho all likely heading for permanent exits, United are facing the daunting task of rebuilding their entire attack.

Should Garnacho depart as well, INEOS may be forced to recruit three new attackers to fill the void.
