Tottenham want to sign Man City starlet after Cole Palmer and Liam Delap success
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on securing the services of a young English midfielder who has had an outstanding start to life in the Premier League this season, but the Lilywhites have just received some bad news regarding the player.
Over the last couple of seasons, Tottenham Hotspur have evolved into a club which gives a platform for talented young players to express themselves.
That perhaps makes the club an attractive destination for young starlets, and it turns out that the Lilywhites have now set their sights on attracting a 20-year-old midfielder, who has dazzled for Manchester City this season.
The player in question is Nico O’Reilly, who has won many admirers since breaking into Pep Guardiola’s side and has shown remarkable versatility, also operating as a left-back at times this season.
Tottenham are keen on Nico O’Reilly but face heavy competition
TBR Football have now claimed that Spurs have been keeping tabs on the England Under-20 international’s development and have been impressed by how he is progressing.
They are now plotting a summer move to bring Nico O’Reilly to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but they have their work cut out in order to do so.
This is because the Man City academy graduate is also on the radar of both Chelsea and Newcastle ahead of the summer window.
Additionally, he is also being watched closely by the likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, who are all keeping an eye on the developments over his future.
Man City making plans to stop O’Reilly exit
To further complicate matters for Tottenham, it is revealed that Man City have no intention of selling the 20-year-old, who is said to be loving life under Guardiola.
In fact, it is said that the Premier League champions have already made advances to tie O’Reilly to a new contract, even though he has three years left on his current deal.
This move is an effort to ward off interest in the midfielder, who is now alleged to be ‘closing in’ on penning a new deal at the Etihad Stadium.
