Tottenham want to sign Brentford star, but Arsenal are showing strongest interest

0 3

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a new attacking option, as the club show strong interest in a wide man with over 20 Premier League goal contributions this season.

While goalscoring hasn’t exactly been a problem for Tottenham in the Premier League this season, there’s a fair argument that Ange Postecoglou’s side could do with a bit more firepower up top.

Dominic Solanke, despite his link-up play, pressing and hold-up ability, has only managed seven goals in the league so far, which isn’t quite the return expected of a leading forward.

It’s no surprise, then, that Tottenham are now being linked with a player who can share the attacking burden.

Tottenham join race for Bryan Mbeumo

According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are one of several Premier League sides monitoring Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who has enjoyed an impressive campaign.

The Cameroon international is said to be attracting attention from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, with the latter believed to be showing the strongest interest at this stage.

Brentford, meanwhile, are expected to find it difficult to hang on to the 25-year-old, who they value at £50 million (roughly €58 million), given the level of interest and his performances this season.

Mbeumo’s versatility could boost Spurs’ attack

Mbuemo would be a brilliant addition to any Premier League side thanks to his flexibility and his ability to pop up in dangerous areas regardless of where he’s deployed.

If he were to sign for Tottenham Hotspur, he’d most likely be used on the right flank, where he’d provide direct competition for Brennan Johnson and offer a different threat in the final third.

But the beauty of Bryan Mbeumo is that he can also operate on the left or even through the middle if needed – something Postecoglou would absolutely value in his fluid Tottenham system.
