2/10 duels, 13 touches, six passes: £39m star was United's worst player vs Wolves after 4/10 performance - opinion

0 7

Manchester United suffered their 15th defeat of the Premier League season after a 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils went into the game with five changes from the dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League quarter-final.

United were still the better side with more possession, but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.

Pablo Sarabia secured the victory for Wolves in the 77th minute with a fabulous free-kick.

Rasmus Hojlund was picked to lead the line but had another poor outing for the Red Devils.

The Dane won just two out of 10 duels in 70 minutes. He managed 13 touches and only six passes.

Hojlund also disappointed with his positioning. He failed to capitalise on quality crosses into the box from Patrick Dorgu, Harry Amass and Alejandro Garnacho.

The £39 million-rated striker received a 4/10 rating from Manchester Evening News for his display.

The 22-year-old has now scored just one goal from his last 28 appearances for United. His form is a big worry for the rest of the campaign.

United face Athletic Bilbao in the last four of the Europa League. Hojlund is poised to lead the line with Joshua Zirkzee out with a hamstring injury.

Manager Ruben Amorim brought in Chido Obi for the final quarter of yesterday’s game but the teenager is ineligible to play in Europe this season.

United face Bournemouth on the road this weekend before the first leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic. Hojlund needs to step up as his future appears on the line.

If he does not turn up in the coming games, the hierarchy should seriously contemplate cutting their losses on him in the next transfer window.
