Funeral services announced for former UL, LSU football player Kyren Lacy
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Funeral services for former LSU football wide receiver Kyren Lacy are set for Saturday, April 26, in south Louisiana.
A viewing and service will take place at the David Stopher Gymnasium at Nicholls University, according to Williams & Southall Funeral Home. The viewing will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and the celebration of life will start at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow the service at Moses, Allen Chapel, Calvary Cemeteries in Thibodaux.
NFL draft hopeful Lacy, 24, was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a police chase in Houston, Texas, on April 12. At the time of his death, he was facing uncertainty about his future playing in the NFL after he was charged in connection with a December 2024 crash in Lafourche Parish that left an elderly man dead.
An outpouring of grief from the sports community, statewide and nationwide, flooded social media after Lacy's death. LSU coach Brian Kelly described the former Tigers football player as a "bright star" who had a great love for the game.
