Tottenham without one of their most important players for Eintracht Frankfurt clash

0 26

Ange Postecoglou has delivered a fitness update on Heung-min Son ahead of Tottenham’s trip to Germany, as the Australian boss eyes a defining Europa League night against Eintracht Frankfurt.

In a little over 24 hours, Tottenham Hotspur will line up to face Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.

In the first leg of this UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie, Tottenham snatched a draw after Hugo Ekitike’s opener was cancelled out by a Pedro Porro equaliser.

Ange Postecoglou knows this fixture carries real weight for him, perhaps more than any other this season, as it could well shape his long-term future at the club.

Ahead of the clash, the Australian has been handed a couple of fitness boosts. Dejan Kulusevski made a surprise return against Wolves on Sunday, having originally been expected to feature from the bench on Thursday.

Lucas Bergvall and three others also avoided suspension in the quarter-final first leg, meaning they are all available for selection.

It was also revealed earlier today that Kevin Danso, who has been out for over a month, has returned to training and could be named on the bench.

After Heung-min Son was not spotted boarding the Tottenham flight, the big question that hung over Ange Postecoglou’s press conference was: ‘Would the Spurs captain play any part?’

Ange Postecoglou reveals Heung-min Son did not travel with Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou has now sat down with the media and addressed the fitness concerns surrounding his first-team squad.

He told Football.London that Heung-min Son is the only Tottenham player to miss the flight: “Sonny didn’t travel and he’s the only one who hasn’t travelled. He’s been struggling with his foot for a couple of weeks now and has been in pain. Everyone else is good. Kevin [Danso] trained and is available.”
