Red Sox Vs. Rays Lineups: Role Players Start With Alex Bregman Out

The Red Sox have an opportunity to earn a series victory on Wednesday, as they’ll complete a three-game set with the Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Alex Bregman will not be in attendance.

Bregman, who powered a victory in the middle game of the series, is headed back home to witness the birth of his second child. The Red Sox added him to the paternity list and backfilled his spot on the roster with utility fielder Nick Sogard.

Sean Newcomb will start for the Red Sox, looking to turn around his misfortunes and grab his first victory for his hometown club.

The Sox and Rays are scheduled to take the (minor league) field at 7:05 p.m. ET, following an hour of pregame coverage on NESN.
