Tennis Player Harriet Dart Slammed for Comments About Opponent Smelling Bad, Issues Apology
British tennis player Harriet Dart has faced backlash for comments that she made about opponent Lois Boission‘s body odor.
The comments were made during a changeover at the Rouen Open match on Tuesday (April 15) in Rouen, France.
After Lois walked past her to go to the other side of the court, Harriet went up to the umpire and was overheard making her remarks.

“Can you tell her to wear deodorant?” Harriet asked (as seen in a video). “Because the smell. Can you tell her to wear deodorant? She smells really bad.”
Lois apparently didn’t hear the comments during the match and she easily won. She defeated Harriet, 6-0, 6-3.
Harriet took to her Instagram Stories to apologize after receiving backlash.
“Hey everyone, I want to apologise for what I said on court today, it was a heat-of-the-moment comment that I truly regret,” she wrote. “That’s not how I want to carry myself, and I take full responsibility. I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she competed today. I’ll learn from this and move forward.”
Lois joked about the incident on her Instagram Stories by posting a photo of herself on the court with a stick of Dove deodorant Photoshopped into her hand.
“@dove apparently need a collab ????????????????,” Lois wrote.
