Luca Williams-Barnett just said something very exciting about his Tottenham future

0 24

After bagging a hat-trick in Tottenham Hotspur’s U17 Premier League Cup final win, Luca Williams-Barnett has now sent a message to Spurs fans -“I can’t wait to be in the Premier League.”

While Tottenham Hotspur’s senior squad continues their hunt for silverware this season after a 17-year-long drought, the U17s have quietly gone about lifting the Premier League Cup trophy for the second time in three years.

It was an emphatic 5-2 win over Charlton Athletic that saw Stuart Lewis’ side emerge victorious. Goals from Williams-Barnett (3, 36, 57), Byrne (66) and Elliott-Parris (80) sealed the deal on Friday.

But there was only one name on everyone’s lips at full-time—Williams-Barnett. The youngster ran the show with a sensational hat-trick in the final, and rightly stole the spotlight.

Luca Williams-Barnett dreams of Premier League goals and Tottenham glory

Speaking after his match-winning display, the number ten made no attempt to hide his ambition, making it crystal clear that he already has one eye on the big stage.

He sent a message to Spurs fans, making it clear that he can’t wait to be in the Premier League, and that he hopes he can bring smiles to their faces.

He told the official Tottenham Hotspur Instagram account: “I can’t wait to be in the Premier League, scoring goals for Tottenham and making fans happy,”

The number 10 has been in red-hot form for the U17s this season, racking up 18 goals and nine assists in just 17 appearances. On Friday, his quality shone through once more, with all three finishes taken brilliantly.

Williams-Barnett’s hat-trick shows why Spurs must keep producing attacking talent

For his first, Luca Williams-Barnett latched onto Byrne’s ball down the left, shifted his body into space and lashed home from a tight angle with composure.

The second came via instinct, as he coolly steered Tynan Thompson’s cut-back inside the near post to hand Spurs the momentum once again.

And to complete his treble, the number ten capitalised on a loose pass in Charlton’s defence, danced around keeper Woodham with some sharp footwork, and rolled the ball into the net to seal his hat-trick in style.

The future does look bright for Tottenham Hotspur, who continue to put real energy into nurturing attacking talent capable of making the step up.
