Match Report: Woking 1-0 AFC Fylde
AFC Fylde fell to a 1-0 defeat to Woking thanks to Dale Gorman’s second half strike.
Woking were first to have a shot at goal when Gorman’s strike was fired over the bar, they put some real pressure on Fylde’s defence in the opening 15 minutes.
Fylde looked to get back into the game through Nick Haughton, but his whipped free kick was held onto by Will Jääskeläinen.
As the clock hit 38’, Ashley Boatswain struck a tame effort at goal from Max Bardell’s cross down the right flank.
The first half ended with the teams going into halftime at a stalemate.
Woking started the second half well as they won a couple of corners, neither of which troubling The Coasters though.
Just after the hour mark, Woking had a huge chance to break the deadlock, but Owen Evans was there to clear away the danger on the goal line after a free kick found its way towards the back post.
As 75 minutes hit the clock, the opener was found by Woking. Gorman striking fiercely past Ben Winterbottom from the edge of the penalty area after his initial strike was blocked.
The Coasters sent on Emika Obi as a target man late on, but he couldn’t make the desired impact as Fylde fell to a 1-0 defeat on the road.
