Tottenham told they have a developing star who could reach the very ‘top level’
Wales boss Craig Bellamy has backed Tottenham Hotspur’s Brennan Johnson to become a top player — but he warns there is still work to be done.
One can say that the future of Tottenham Hotspur is rather bright, given how young the Spurs squad is.
However, while the future does appear bright, a lot of this would be reaped if Tottenham continue to improve the quality of their squad whilst holding onto their exciting youngsters.
For many Tottenham fans, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Mikey Moore are a few of the younger players that excite them.
However, Wales manager Craig Bellamy has now thrown another name into the mix and that’s Brennan Johnson.
Craig Bellamy gives honest verdict on Brennan Johnson’s development and potential
According to the Wales boss, Johnson is a young player who is still in the development stage of his career with a lot to improve on. The ex-Liverpool man believes that the 23-year-old Tottenham forward can eventually become a top player.
He told Sky Sports: “The way I look at Brennan — I class him as a young player — and I would definitely class him in the development stage, especially in that pool where I see him.
“There’s loads he can improve on. I believe, even with us at Wales, there is a big part of his game that can improve. It’s, is he willing to do it? Is he willing to listen? Is he willing to learn?
“I believe he has the attributes to be a really top player — now it’s time to see where he wants to take it. I believe he has that capability. I believe he has that mindset. It’s just games, confidence, and I believe we’ll see a lot more from him.”
What does Johnson still have to work on at Tottenham?
Of course, every Tottenham fan would agree that while Brennan Johnson has loads of ability, particularly in terms of goalscoring, there is still loads for him to improve on.
The wide man has to work on the defensive side of things and his one-on-one dribbling, as sometimes, these aspects of his game are exposed in matches.
However, it is rather unlikely that he gets a young player treatment at Spurs, given that the average age of the squad is rather low, and he is one of the few players with experience playing with both club and country.
