Agent of 25y/o Brazilian with 19 goals/assists in contact with Man Utd, to jet into England for face-to-face talks - report
The agent of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has already made some initial contact with Manchester United over the Brazil international, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
He is set to fly to England soon for face-to-face talks with the Red Devils and other potential suitors, with the 25-year-old set to be available for £62.5 million this summer due to a release clause in his deal.
Man United are looking for a number 10 to fit into head coach Ruben Amorim’s rigid 3-4-2-1 system, and they believe Cunha could be perfect for the role given his versatility and skillset, but they could face competition from Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and other clubs in the Premier League and overseas.
He has weighed in with four assists and 15 goals in 29 games across all competitions so far this term after ending last season with 14 goals and eight assists, and the Red Devils could do with such an attacker within their ranks.
From the look of things, Man United will only qualify for European football next season if they win the Europa League, and failure to secure a spot in one of the continental competitions could affect their chances of landing Cunha and other top targets.
However, their status as one of the biggest clubs in England could work in their favour in their pursuit of the Wolves star, and his ability to also play on both wings will come in handy.
While he is weak aerially, the Man United target is very strong in other areas, with dribbling, finishing, crossing, passing and holding on to the ball some of his key strengths, and his Premier League experience would be huge for the Old Trafford club.
Amorim has to recruit players capable of improving the fortunes of the club on the pitch going forward, and landing Cunha could make a huge difference as the Portuguese looks to impress in his first full season in charge of the Red Devils.
