Ange Postecoglou reveals what his scout told him about Eintracht Frankfurt last week

0 0

Ange Postecoglou has revealed what his scouts told him about the atmosphere at Eintracht Frankfurt, a stadium they are set to visit in two weeks.

It has unravelled rather quickly for Ange Postecoglou in his second season in charge at Tottenham Hotspur.

Things haven’t gone his way this time around, as the campaign kicked off with a brutal injury crisis that wiped out a chunk of his starting XI and left him scrambling for consistency.

Sympathy came early, understandably, but it’s faded fast—especially now that many of his key players are back, yet the results remain patchy and performances even more so.

And with every defeat, the Australian’s frustration grows louder. Thursday night saw Postecoglou respond to the away end by cupping his ears—a gesture that has, unsurprisingly, not gone down well with the fans.

Ange Postecoglou reacts to planned Tottenham fan protest

While the manager continues to feel the pressure, the Tottenham hierarchy haven’t escaped criticism either. In fact, yet another protest—the third of the season—is scheduled to take place during the clash against Southampton.

When asked about Sunday’s protest and the atmosphere expected, Postecoglou stated he can’t control the fans’ feelings.

He also went on to reveal that Tottenham’s home clash against Frankfurt is pivotal, especially with reports from his scouts suggesting it’s no easy place to go.

He told football.london: “I can’t control that. “As I said before, I would like to think irrespective of people’s feelings right now, I don’t think there will be a Tottenham supporter out there who doesn’t want to win the Europa League.

“The home game in the Europa League is going to be important. We had someone at the Frankfurt game last week and they said the atmosphere was really loud.”

Ange Postecoglou needs to repair broken relationship with Tottenham fans

Ange Postecoglou definitely looks like a man whose time is running out. However, despite the growing discontent from the fans, one would expect that if he delivers silverware this season, all would be forgotten.

Nevertheless, the Australian needs to repair the broken relationship with the Tottenham supporters, and perhaps a good place to start would be resisting the urge to take digs at them.

But more than that, it’s about results. Sixteen defeats in one season is poor, and when your team’s losing that often, fans are well within their rights to question your decisions—even the small ones.

Right now, there’s more smoke than spark at Tottenham, and unless something gives soon, the atmosphere on Sunday might just reflect that.
