Tottenham need starting bid of £60m to compete with Man United for midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both interested in the same Premier League talisman this summer, but it will take a huge fee to land him.
It has been widely reported over the last few weeks that Tottenham are front-runners to sign Eberechi Eze this summer, with many at the club thought to be admirers of the player.
However, it has also been claimed by a few sources that Spurs are not prepared to trigger Eze’s £68m release clause, with the Lilywhites instead interested in testing the waters to see if Palace accept a lower fee.
Spurs have now received some good news and some bad news in their pursuit of the versatile attacker after his own plans and the growing interest in his services came to light.
Man United are ready to battle Tottenham for Eberechi Eze
TEAMtalk have now claimed that Manchester United are not plotting a move for the Palace star, with Rube Amorim thought to view the 26-year-old as someone who would be an ideal fit for the number ten role in his system.
The report says that the Red Devils are ready to push ahead with a move for the former QPR man, but it would take a starting bid of £60m for Palace to consider selling their talisman.
The outlet says that United will face competition from Spurs who are described as ‘long-term admirers’ of Eze.
While Man United entering the race and Palace’s rumoured asking price may not be good news for Spurs, this update also reveals one detail which potentially boosts the Lilywhites’ chances of landing the player.
It is mentioned that there is now a belief at Selhurst Park that Eze is ‘ready to take the next step in his career’, which sounds like the player is looking for a new challenge.

Why Spurs may have an advantage over Man United in Eze race
TEAMtalk say that Palace’s demands of £60m may prove a stumbling block for United as the club are in a tight situation with respect to PSR.
As a result, Amorim’s men may have to sell some players before pushing ahead with a move for the Eagles star.
This might potentially open the door for Tottenham Hotspur to steal a march on their Premier League rivals in the race for Eze. However, it is worth keeping in mind that Spurs are not in a strong financial position either.
In fact, Daniel Levy warned recently that Tottenham’s spending has not been sustainable, which suggests that he will be reluctant to greenlight a big transfer outlay this summer.
