Fabrizio Romano provides key new update on Tottenham and Andoni Iraola

0 5

A fresh update has revealed what are the steps Tottenham Hotspur have taken towards replacing Ange Postecoglou and Andoni Iraola, and the other options that the North London club are considering as question marks remain over the Australian’s future.

It has been widely reported over recent weeks that Andoni Iraola is Tottenham’s clear number-one choice to replace Postescoglou if they do decide to make a managerial change in the summer.

It is not difficult to see why, given the outstanding job that the Spaniard has done at Bournemouth, who still remain in contention for Champions League qualification.

A few sources have claimed recently that Iraola is open to swapping the South Coast for Tottenham this summer, and now, a new update has revealed what steps the Lilywhites have taken in their pursuit of the former Rayo Vallecano boss.

Andoni Iraola’s circle have been informed of Tottenham’s interest

GiveMeSport have now become the latest outlet to claim that Iraola is the ‘most appreciated’ out of the candidates on Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist, with information coming from Fabrizio Romano himself.

The style of football that Iraola has delivered at the Vitality Stadium, along with the relationship he has forged with his own players are very much appreciated by the decision-makers at Spurs.

Romano explains that so far, Tottenham have not held any direct talks with the 48-year-old about a switch to N17 at the end of the season.

However, the Bournemouth boss’s close circle have allegedly been informed that the North Londoners are interested, with the Lilywhites said to be aware that he has a release clause of around £10m.

What Andoni Iraola has said about his future

Amidst the speculation continuing to link him with a move to Tottenham, Iraola broke his silence on his Bournemouth future a couple of days ago.

The Spanish coach insisted that his focus for the moment is solely on ensuring that the Cherries have a strong end to the season.

Iraola said: “I want to do my job the best I can. I don’t know how far we can [go], where we will finish. I want to do my job the best I can. If I don’t do the job very well, they will find someone else. It’s like this in every job. I’m really happy here.”
