Dejan Kulusevski teases potential return for Tottenham ahead of Chelsea clash
Tottenham Hotspur’s Dejan Kulusevski has posted a cryptic image, hinting at a potential return to action following a spell injured on the sidelines.
Thursday marks the 179th meeting between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, and history has not been kind to Spurs in this fixture. They have suffered defeat 80 times while winning just 55.
The upcoming clash will be the second Premier League meeting between the two this season, with Spurs looking to avenge their chaotic 4-3 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium— a match that saw the Lilywhites lose both centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to injuries.
Since that game, Tottenham have made significant strides in fitness, with several key players returning from injury. However, not everyone is back just yet.
Dejan Kulusevski hints at Tottenham return
A few doubts remain in the squad, particularly Dejan Kulusevski, who picked up a foot injury in training ahead of Spurs’ Europa League first-leg clash with AZ Alkmaar.
Kulusevski has since missed four matches, and in that period, Spurs have managed just one win— their only victory coming in the second leg against AZ.
Now, though, there might be some good news. Kulusevski dropped a hint about his return on Instagram, posting a picture of himself doing a knee slide with the caption: “Coming to a show near u. DK tha truth 2.0.”
Of course, his absence has been felt, and a return in time for the Chelsea clash would be a major boost for Spurs as they prepare to face a familiar rival.
What Spurs’ latest training footage reveals
Despite Kulusevski’s cryptic update, footage from Spurs’ latest training session suggests fans may need to hold off on celebrating just yet.
The recently released video showed Richarlison actively participating in warm-ups, hinting that the Brazilian—who has been sidelined since early February— could be close to a return.
Lucas Bergvall, who missed Sweden’s friendlies due to illness, was also spotted in training. However, there was no sign of Kulusevski. Similarly, Kevin Danso was also absent from the warm-ups and drills.
That being said, Ange Postecoglou has previously suggested that Kulusevski, Danso, and Richarlison are all expected to return after the International break.
Of course, with the Chelsea fixture set for Thursday, there’s still time for the Swede to make his comeback— but for now, it remains a waiting game.
