Tottenham could battle Liverpool and Barcelona for Bundesliga centre-back

Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on an experienced centre-back, who will be a free agent this summer, but they face competition for the player from two of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Despite signing Kevin Danso in January, the Lilywhites continue to be linked with various centre-backs ahead of the summer.

Over recent weeks, we have seen reports that Tottenham are plotting a move for Dean Huijsen, while some outlets have also suggested that Spurs are eyeing an ambitious move for Jarrad Branthwaite.

A fresh update has now suggested that Ange Postecoglou’s men are ready to turn their attention to a German international who will be out of contract this summer.

Tottenham battling Liverpool for Jonathan Tah

According to the print edition of Mundo Deportivo (as relayed by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Jonathan Tah ahead of the summer window.

The 29-year-old’s contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs out at the end of the season and Xabi Alonso’s men have made several attempts to tie him down to a new deal.

However, all of those attempts have been unsuccessful, with the centre-back having made his mind up to leave the Bay Arena at the end of the season.

Liverpool are also ready to offer Tah a route into the Premier League as they look to bolster their options in defence.

Tah is also wanted by Barcelona but there is one problem

Mundo Deportivo go onto explain that Barcelona are also keen on securing Tah’s services this summer, having also expressed their interest over recent weeks.

Hansi Flick is thought to be a big fan of the Leverkusen man, and the player has reportedly ‘given his word’ to the Catalan club that he will move to Camp Nou.

However, it is pointed out that Barca would have to manage their finances carefully and make room in their wage bill before pushing ahead with a move for the German.
