Celtics Insider Shares Crucial Update On Jayson Tatum’s Status
Celtics fans probably are safe to take a sigh of relief following a scary incident Monday night.
Jayson Tatum exited Boston’s win in Sacramento in the third quarter after sustaining an ankle injury. The star forward appeared to be in considerable pain after he crashed into Domantas Sabonis, who received a Flagrant 1 foul for invading Tatum’s landing space on a 3-point attempt.
While Tatum wasn’t available to the media after Boston’s sixth straight victory, he told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne his injured ankle was “just sore.” The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach also noted the six-time All-Star was joking with teammates after the game and left Golden 1 Center with a “very slight limp” but was not assisted by a walking boot or crutches.
Although all of those factors suggested Tatum avoided a serious injury, he told Shelburne the C’s were “going to be cautious” going forward. With only 10 games left in its regular season, that’s probably Boston’s best course of action as it gears up for what figures to be another lengthy playoff run.
