Ex-Patriots Receiver Endorses New England’s Stefon Diggs Pursuit
Stefon Diggs reportedly visited the Patriots this week, and one former New England wide receiver loves the fit.
Diggs is the top free agent on the market, but he’s coming off a season-ending knee injury. His first free-agent visit is to see where he’s at in his recovery and to determine if he fits the culture Mike Vrabel hopes to build.
Some fans called back to Diggs’ past public outbursts and questioned if that was something the Patriots should bring to Drake Maye. Chad Johnson had no issue with the 31-year-old at One Patriot Place.
“Stefon Diggs visiting Foxboro, one leg or two legs, (expletive) it no legs it all he’s gonna be open when given said opportunities, would be a superb locker room presence for the young QB & WR’s,” Johnson posted on X on Thursday.
Johnson only played for the Patriots for one season, but he quickly learned what it meant to play for the franchise and the expectations the fans have for the team.
Diggs had been a productive wide receiver before his injury. He had seven straight seasons of more than 1,000 receiving yards, and his experience playing with Josh Allen could benefit Maye since the 22-year-old often has been compared to the Buffalo Bills star.
New England’s interest in signing the veteran will depend on how his visit and meetings went.
