Nike’s Sold-Out Total 90 Soccer Sneaker Is Coming Back Soon in Three More Colorways
Nike seems to have found its mark for the low-profile sneaker trend, as its transformation of the Total 90 3 soccer cleat (or football boot) immediately sold out last month in its metallic silver launch colorway and is gone in almost all sizes in black. Those that missed out need not wait much longer, as a new crop of colorways is on the way soon.
The Nike Total 90 3 “Mean Green,” “Safety Orange” and “Light Orewood Brown” will release simultaneously this spring. A high amount of gloss defines the green variant, almost to the point of looking metallic, which also renders its Swoosh and giant circle “90” logo in a darker shade of green while sitting atop a white and black sole.
The orange pair then opts for a white branding and midsole, as well as an orange outsole. And “White Orewood Brown” is a bit of misnomer for those not intimately familiar with Nike’s color names, as an off-white upper and midsole is met with black branding and outsole.
Made now as an out-and-out sneaker for the first time, the Total 90 3 leans both into soccer nostalgia and the flat sneaker trend. It was one of the defining cleats of the early 2000s, winning over fans who were initially put off by the asymmetry and lack of a folded tongue.
The signature “90” circle logo matched the national kits for Portugal, Brazil, Netherlands and more teams for the 2004 continental tournaments in Europe and South America, and the classic “Portugal vs. Brazil” commercial was absolutely stacked with talent including Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Eric Cantona, Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos.
The Nike Total 90 3 “Mean Green,” “Safety Orange” and “Light Orewood Brown” don’t yet have a firm release date confirmed but will release at some point during the spring through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing for all three is set at $100.
