NFL Rumors: New Detail About Stefon Diggs Visiting Patriots
The Patriots reportedly welcomed a household name to their facility this week.
The Athletic’s Chad Graff reported on Wednesday night that Stefon Diggs was in Foxboro, Mass., to meet with New England. Diggs, who spent the 2024 season with the Houston Texans, is one of the best wide receivers still available in NFL free agency.
It’s not a prerequisite for a player to physically meet with a team before signing on the dotted line, so Diggs making the trip to the northeast was noteworthy. Graff mentioned one reason for the visit in his initial report.
“Part of the reason for the visit is to do medical checks on Diggs’ knee now that he’s four months post-operation,” Graff wrote.
Diggs suffered a torn ACL on a non-contact incident back on Oct. 27. The injury limited the 31-year-old’s campaign to eight games, during which he caught 47 passes for 496 yards with three touchdowns. Being unavailable for an extended time also was out of the ordinary for Diggs, who only missed a combined 11 games over his first nine NFL seasons.
Signing the Maryland product would come with some risk for the Patriots. Not only will he turn 32 just about a year after sustaining a very serious injury, but he also might not be the most ideal culture fit among Mike Vrabel’s group. However, New England might deem Diggs one of the best options left as it tries to improve its receiving corps.
