The Lowdown
With 10 wins from our last 10 matches in all competitions, the Hibees head into the Final in formidable form. Glasgow City were the most recent side to fall to Grant Scott’s side during last Saturday’s much-anticipated ScottishPower Women’s Premier League clash at Petershill Park.
The fixture marked a landmark 500 SWPL outings for both clubs and was settled in fittingly dramatic style, as Hibs walked away with all three points following Kirsty Morrison’s chaotic winner seven minutes deep into second half stoppage-time.
The narrow, hard-fought 1-0 victory extended Hibernian’s unbeaten league streak to 15 matches – a remarkable run that began all the way back in October 2024.
Our spot in the Sky Sports Cup Final was secured following three victories in prior rounds.
Kathleen McGovern netted hat-tricks in resounding away victories over Queen’s Park (7-0) and Partick Thistle (4-1) in the Last 16 and Quarter-Finals, respectively.
Aberdeen were subsequently defeated 3-0 at Meadowbank in the Semi-Finals, with Ciara Grant snatching a brace as Eilidh Adams also found the net.
Hibernian are the most successful club in the Scottish Women’s League Cup history, winning the competition seven times in 12 final appearances - with the Club's most recent triumph occuring in 2019, as Glasgow City were defeated on penalties at Excelsior Stadium.
Led by Grant Scott, current Hibees Kirsten Reilly, Rachael Boyle, Siobhan Hunter, Kirsty Morrison, Lia Tweedie and Ellis Notley all played that day; as did then-captain, and current First-Team Coach, Joelle Murray.
The Opposition
Rangers are current holders of the Sky Sports Cup following their 4-1 victory over Partick Thistle at Tynecastle Park in last year’s Final.
The Glasgow club reached their third consecutive Sky Sports Cup final following victories over Dundee United, Motherwell and Celtic in the earlier rounds.
Jo Potter’s outfit head into Saturday’s showpiece occasion in a similar rich vein of form to Hibs, as they are unbeaten in 2025 – winning eight games and drawing once, while scoring 54 goals and keeping seven clean sheets.
Hibs, during a feisty encounter at Broadwood Stadium in late December, were the last side to defeat Rangers. Kathleen McGovern scored twice, before substitute Rosie Livingstone added a third late on, as the Hibees ran out 3-0 winners on the day.
