Tottenham fans are all saying the same thing as worrying Yves Bissouma stat emerges
Yves Bissouma’s recent performances for Tottenham Hotspur have left fans frustrated, with the midfielder struggling to make an impact in his last five appearances. Bissouma’s recent showings have sparked debate over his role in the team—and whether he has a future at the club.
Yves Bissouma’s time at Spurs this season has been far from ideal. The Malian midfielder has slipped down the pecking order, and that comes as no surprise given his recent performances for Tottenham Hotspur.
At the start of the campaign, the 28-year-old featured prominently, making six starts in the club’s opening ten games. However, his form has dipped significantly, leading to reduced minutes on the pitch.
Spurs fans have been vocal about their disappointment, and it is clear that his performances in recent weeks have not met expectations.
Yves Bissouma’s last five Tottenham appearances: A worrying trend
In his last five Tottenham Hotspur appearances, Bissouma has struggled to impose himself.
He was hooked off at half-time against Arsenal, subbed in the 68th minute against Brentford, and withdrawn in the 57th minute during Spurs’ Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg defeat to Liverpool—arguably one of his worst displays this season.
He also failed to feature in the second half against Bournemouth after a poor first-half display and he was taken off again at half-time in Spurs’ recent 2-0 defeat against Fulham.
Given his poor form, we asked Spurs fans for their thoughts on social media—and they did not hold back.
One fan said: “Time to sell – decent on his day but easily replaceable.” Another stated: “Normally a moderate, but this man can NEVER wear a Spurs shirt in a competitive game EVER AGAIN, please. Bentancur too!! I’ve had enough of the pair of them!! Play youngsters – they care!!”
A different fan shared their preferred midfield setup: “Biss needs to see the bench for the foreseeable future. I’m begging for a midfield of Kulusevski, Maddison, and Bergvall. Get Bergvall doing the hard graft, which he’s capable of, and let Maddison be a deep-lying playmaker for Kulusevski behind Solanke.”
Another suggested he is being misused: “Got to stop playing him as a six. He’s an eight and was always an eight with Brighton. Play him further forward with the chance to roam, and he’ll be twice the player. Prior to the sending-off against Bournemouth last season, he was one of our best players in an advanced role.”
One fan summed up the general mood: “The drop-off from Biss is worrying. His passing of late has been atrocious. Sell in the summer.”
Is Bissouma’s poor form a deeper issue?
While Bissouma’s performances have been criticised, it is not out of malice but concern. In fairness, he is not the only Tottenham midfielder who has struggled this season.
Rodrigo Bentancur has also been inconsistent, and Spurs fans are split on whether Bentancur deserves a new deal.
There could be multiple factors at play here. It might be Postecoglou’s tactical setup not suiting Bissouma, or perhaps the midfielder is simply not good enough at this level.
Either way, given his inconsistency, Bissouma is one of ten players Tottenham should consider moving on from this summer.
