Tottenham fans will respect what Mathys Tel did after defeat to Fulham

0 3

Mathys Tel went over to speak to the Tottenham away fans after the 2-0 loss to Fulham and was seen having a heated exchange after asking them to get behind the team.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have become all too used to the kind of lacklustre display that they saw from their side at Craven Cottage yesterday, with the Lilywhites struggling to grab the game by the scruff of the neck once again.

It was the Lilywhites’ 15th defeat of the season in just 29 matches, a result which leaves them stranded in the bottom half of the table, 11 points behind Aston Villa in ninth place.

Mathys Tel involved in a heated exchange with Tottenham supporters

January signing, Mathys Tel, came back into the starting lineup, featuring on the left of a front three, with the forward eventually being replaced in 77 minutes by his compatriot Wilson Odobert.

After the final whistle, Tel made his way to the travelling fans and was seen engaging in a heated discussion with a couple of fans, who were not happy with the performance they saw from the Lilywhites.

Shouts of “it’s not good enough” were heard from the Spurs supporters, while Tel was seen responding: “We need to be together”.

Guglielmo Vicario also called for Spurs fans to back the team

This is not the first time we have seen a Tottenham player call for the fans to get behind the team instead of jeering them.

Guglielmo Vicario signalled to the travelling Spurs fans to show more support at Alkmaar two weeks ago, which he got criticised for on social media.

There appears to be a feeling in the dressing room that the supporters are being too critical of the team. However, the players will do well to realise that the fans will only get behind them if they see the team play with intensity and hunger, which has been lacking more often than not this season.
