New Bruins Prospect Acquired Via Trade Turns In Eye-Catching Performance

There will be plenty of chatter surrounding Fraser Minten now that he is a highly regarded Boston Bruins prospect.

And the 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward gave Bruins fans plenty to talk about with the performance he put on for Boston’s AHL affiliate on Sunday.

Minten, who the Bruins acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Brandon Carlo trade, netted a natural hat trick in Providence’s 4-1 win over the Springfield Thunderbirds. It was just Minten’s third game with Providence.

The 20-year-old sure looked comfortable playing next to fellow Bruins prospects, though. Minten scored off of feeds from Georgii Merkulov, Billy Sweezey and Fabian Lysell while Minten dished out an assist on Providence’s final goal of the game for a four-point outing.

Minten is known for being a high-volume scorer. He tallied 31 goals for the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL during the 2022-23 season. Minten has nine goals and eight assists at the AHL level this season and appeared in 15 games for the Maple Leafs, totaling two goals and two assists.

Bruins general manager Don Sweeney compared Minten to Charlie Coyle after the trade was finalized and Boston sure could use Minten’s goal-scoring prowess. Whether Minten gets to showcase that at the NHL level this season with the Bruins having 14 games left, remains to be seen.
