Match Preview: Queen’s Park v Spartans – Sun 16 Mat 25

0 10

Queen’s Park will play host to The Spartans in the first post-split fixture tomorrow at Ochilview Park.  Kick off at 3pm.

The Spiders come into the second phase of the league with eight points and sit eleventh in the table with their opponents two places above them and currently safe from the drop.

Queen’s Park come into the match with a boost after earning a thoroughly deserved last time out against Partick Thistle, while the visitors are fresh of the back of a Scottish Cup exit to Rangers last weekend.

The first meeting between these two sides this season ended in a 1-0 home victory for Queen’s Park back in August, while The Spiders picked up a valuable away point as Spartans were held to a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Ainslie Park in November.

A win for either side tomorrow would go a long way in potentially ensuring their safety from the relegation zone making it a tough test for both clubs, but the home side go into the match with confidence. Head Coach Iain Robinson said: ” Our last match against Partick Thistle was a real positive performance and result. It gives us a great platform to go into the split with a bit of confidence.

“With that said, the squad are fully aware of how important this fixture is, and the importance of firstly building on the recent run of positive performances, but also how valuable every single point is going to be. That starts on Sunday. Spartans are a very hard side to play against – we can’t let the fact we are unbeaten against them this season lull us into a false sense of the challenge that lies ahead.

“We’ve had a good two weeks of preparation for this game, and training this week in particular has been excellent. We’re hopeful that if we get our execution of the tactics right, and the players perform to the level we know they can that we can get a positive result. I’ve got every belief that this group can do that!”
