Alex Bregman Hypes Up Top Red Sox Prospect’s Monster Homer
Roman Anthony put the baseball world on notice, and a Red Sox leader was proud to see Boston’s top prospect receive his moment.
MLB’s “Spring Breakout” series was created to showcase each team’s top prospects in multiple exhibition games. The Red Sox’s “big three” showed out in a big way when Kristian Campbell, Marcelo Mayer and Anthony all homered against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Anthony’s home run went viral after his gigantic dinger came amid “overrated” chants from a rowdy fan.
Alex Bregman reshared NESN’s highlight of Anthony’s home run on his Instagram story and added a hand wave emoji when the baseball left Charlotte Sports Park. The two-time World Series champion also reshared the highlights of Campbell’s and Mayer’s home runs.
Bregman took the “big three” under his wing and even made the rare veteran move of traveling with the top prospects on the road during spring training. The quartet picked each other’s brains throughout the spring where Boston’s prospects got to learn from one of the best players in the game.
They’ve not only gained more fans during spring training but also a strong supporter in Bregman.
