65 touches, 11 duels & 6 fouls won: £25m star was United's best player vs Real Sociedad after Bruno - opinion
Manchester United progressed to the quarter-final stage of the Europa League following a 5-1 aggregate victory over Real Sociedad.
The Red Devils played out a 1-1 draw against the La Liga outfit on the road. Sociedad took an early lead from the penalty spot at Old Trafford last night, but United responded brilliantly.
Bruno Fernandes converted two penalties in either half. Jon Arambaru’s sending-off after the hour mark helped United to cruise to a comfortable 4-1 win against Imanol’s side.
Fernandes bagged his hat-trick with a fine finish before Diogo Dalot put the gloss on the performance with United’s fourth goal.
The captain was undoubtedly the man of the match, but we were also impressed by Dorgu’s involvement from the left wing-back role.
The Dane returned to the line-up after serving another league suspension. He was brilliant with his movement and decision-making.
He won the penalty to make it 2-1 for the Red Devils and also induced the foul from Arambaru, who was sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Overall, the £25 million signing had 65 touches in the game. He won an impressive 11 out of 13 duels contested while inducing six fouls from the opposition.
Dorgu also registered two successful tackles alongside two clearances and four recoveries.
The left wing-back received an 8/10 rating from Goal for his showing, and we believe he was the second-best player on the pitch last night after Fernandes.
United will face Lyon in the last eight of the Europa League next month.
The Red Devils need to refocus for Sunday. They are scheduled to face Leicester City on the road in the Premier League.
United have already beaten the Foxes three times in all competitions this term and are favourites to continue the streak.
