Playmaker must take 33% pay cut to join Tottenham this summer
Recent reports have revealed what it would take for the most expensive English player in history to join Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
This season, Jack Grealish has slipped down the pecking order, with Guardiola favouring Jeremy Doku and Savinho as his primary options on the wings.
The 29-year-old’s diminishing role has sparked speculation about a potential move away from the Etihad.
Given his current struggles, there is growing belief that a transfer could be on the cards, with Spurs among the clubs monitoring Jack Grealish’s situation.
However, whether a move to north London is financially viable remains a significant question.
Tottenham move for Jack Grealish hinges on massive wage cut
One fan recently suggested that Grealish could be the ideal successor to Heung-min Son at Tottenham.
Now, journalist Dean Jones, writing for GIVEMESPORT, has shed light on what it would take to bring the Englishman to North London.
Jones highlighted why the financial implications make a move abroad more likely than a switch to Spurs, explaining: “The 29-year-old is one of Manchester City’s top earners, with a weekly salary of around £300,000.
“That is a significant figure, especially when compared to Spurs’ current wage structure, which caps salaries at just under £200,000-a-week—the same amount that Heung-min Son earns.”
Other clubs in the race for Jack Grealish
The report indicates that Grealish may need to accept a 33% pay cut to make a move to Tottenham feasible, as the club’s wage structure is not expected to change, even if Son were to leave.
Beyond the wage reduction, any deal would require Spurs to pay a substantial transfer fee, with the playmaker still under contract at City for another two years.
While Tottenham are interested, they are not alone. According to GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea and Newcastle United are also keeping a close eye on developments, while European heavyweights Bayern Munich and AC Milan have reportedly expressed interest in luring Grealish away from the Premier League.
